Acne and Acne Scarring

Acne and Acne Scarring
Acne is caused by two main problems:

Overactive oil glands, and
Overgrowth of anaerobic bacteria

The treatment, then, is to:

Target oil glands and reduce sebum production
Kill bacteria

The following treatments are used to address the underlying causes of acne:

Blue light, or phototherapy, consists of gentle, painless, short sessions of light exposure which kill acne bacteria. It is completely non-toxic, and there is no downtime. Sessions are done weekly for 6-12 weeks, with maintenance sessions thereafter as needed.
Microdermabrasion and chemical peels can help to clear pores of oil and impurities, and can also have a regenerative effect on the skin.*

Acne scars can be softened using a CO2 fractional laser, microdermabrasion and a newer technique called carbossitherapy, which is designed to break down scar tissue, improve blood flow and oxygen levels in the skin, and promote healing.* We also have several physician-grade facials for the treatment of acne.
