IPL Photofacial Treatment

The De Pieri Clinic is proud to offer Lumecca, the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmentation and rosacea typically on the face, but it can be used to treat pigment on other areas of the body as well. Most commonly, face, neck, chest, arms, legs and hands are treated. Patients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin. Lumecca operates using photo-thermolysis, which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment.

  • What is IPL?

Intense Pulsed Light, also known as a Photofacial, is a treatment used to treat freckles, sun spots, age spots, facial veins and rosacea. The light is absorbed into red or brown areas and helps reduce the appearance of them. Typically 1-3 treatments are suggested to get maximum results.

  • What is the downtime?

There is minimal discomfort and very little downtime. The area treated will mostly likely turn red, almost like a sunburn the day of treatment, and slight swelling may occur. By day 3, however, most people find their skin is back to normal. Any existing pigment will become darker and rise to the surface of the skin and eventually "slough" off. While anything red, such as veins, may become red or purple in colour and then diminish within a few days.
